Birmingham - The Creative Capital City

Birmingham is undergoing a Creative Revolution.  It's an internationally innovative city, with a proud industrial heritage.  And now  Birmingham is cultivating a highly successful Creative Sector.

The Equal II:  The Last Mile programme has provided support to more than 400 individual artists and creative businesses, with the aim to  grow and sustain  Birmingham's creative business community.

Watch our short film that tells the story of Birmingham's poet laureate "Spoz" and his personal account of how Equal II:  The Last Mile changed his life.

Cultural organisations, Partners, Beneficiaries and members of Birmingham City Council’s Creative Development team attended a press screening of Birmingham: The Creative City at The Electric Cinema, Birmingham on March 11th.

The screening gave members of the press and regional partners the chase to witness just two of the amazing journeys adapted into a short promotional film as part of the Creative Compass campaign to highlight the amazing work delivered as part of the Equal II: The Last Mile programme delivered by BCC’s Creative Development team.

You can find out more from the Director Natasha Carlish, Barbara Kelly – a member of Birmingham City Council’s Creative Development Team and Jamie Perry – Communications Manager at Audiences Central and Project Creator and Manager for the Creative Compass Campaign by looking out for the forthcoming Podcast – soon to be released on this site.

A booklet detailing all of the work of Birmingham Interaction, the regional partners and the beneficiaries will be distributed in The Birmingham Post in the next three weeks.
